DHARAMSHALA: The Indians living in South India, including prominent citizens, are showing strong support for the flame of truth relay organised by Tibetan Parliament-in-exile to seek UN intervention to end Chinese government’s atrocities against Tibetans in Tibet.

The relay, which kicked off on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 6 July, had so far travelled to Coimbatore, Pondicherry, and Auroville. It reached Chennai on 10 July.

BRUSSELS : On a warm sunny evening, bureau du Tibet, Brussels, held its reception at the Albert Hall Complex, a flagship event venue just a stone throw from the European Headquarters to celebrate the 77th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The first birthday since the conferring of the prestigious 2012 Templeton Prize and a year since His Holiness devolved his political authority to the elected leadership of the Central Tibetan Administration.

The reception was attended by diplomats, Members of the European Parliament, Members of the Belgian Parliament, parliamentary assistants, officials of the Belgium government, officials of the EU institutions, representatives of the Tibetan Buddhist centers, Tibetan communities, Tibet Support Groups, various other NGOs, scholars and journalists.

CANBERRA: Mr Ravdan Bold, who took charge as the new Mongolian Ambassador to Australia, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of Tibet based in Canberra today.

As Ambassador Bold expressed his interest to know about the Tibetan community in Australia, Buddhist learning centres and the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Holiness’s Representative Mr Sonam Dagpo briefed him on these subjects.

DHARAMSHALA, June 30: Internet security company Kaspersky Labs has intercepted a new variant of the Tibet malware for OS X, distributed as part of a seemingly politically motivated APT (advanced persistent threat) attack.

Cnet.com reported yesterday that the malware is being distributed in e-mails and is contained within a ZIP file called "matiriyal.zip." 

“If this file is opened it will reveal an image file and a text file that is a disguised OS X application that if run will install the malware. Once installed, the malware will connect to a command-and-control server based in China, and allow a remote attacker to issue local commands and access files,” the tech media website reported.

The Tibet malware was initially found in March and uses a classic Trojan horse approach, by enticing users to open the file based on curiosity and disguising the malware application as a benign document.

DHARAMSHALA, June 30: A group of Tibetans are going to bring the ongoing self-immolation protests in Tibet right to the doorstep of the Chinese government by staging a full-body “Burning Man” protest in front of the Chinese consulate in the American city of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lhakar group along with Clear Mirror Pictures will be conducting the burning man event in front of the Chinese consulate on June 30. A leading team from Hollywood has been roped in to perform the stunt.

The organisers said the main objective of the dramatic event is to “generate support and awareness” on the “messages of peace” of the 42 Tibetans who have set themselves on fire since 2009.

DHARAMSHALA, June 29: A Tibetan girl in her teens is being described in “critical” condition after she was severely beaten and arrested for carrying out a lone protest against China’s continued occupation of Tibet.

According to reports Jigme Dolma, 17, took out her protest in Kardze region of eastern Tibet on June 24.

Exile news sources are reporting that Dolma raised pro-Tibet slogans calling for Tibet’s freedom and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, demands which have been raised by more than 40 Tibetans who have set themselves on fire in recent times.
